Changes to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks to make them portable between employers will be introduced in March 2013.
The DBS was created by the merger of the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) on 1st December 2012. As a result “CRB checks” are now called “DBS checks”.
DBS checks will be made available on-line so employers can check that no new information has been added since the original check was made. This means that a new staff member will no longer have to obtain a new CRB check each time they get a job.
